Neat old ashtray made by Winterling, Marked Bavaria Germany.
This piece is decorated with eight symbols in bright colors. We've done a lot of research but can't seem to determine what the symbols mean. Very interesting. Seems to be military or Scout oriented. We also noticed that each of the symbols seems to represent a number, one through eight. This piece originally had gold around the outer edge, the slots where the cigarettes lay, and the Inside Edge of the rim. The gold has mostly worn off. There is also wear the symbols inside of the ashtray. Still an interesting and unusual piece the bright colors really draw you in.
Measures 6.5 inches across and 1 inch tall.
Found out bit more about this ashtray recently from an Etsy shopper..... " ashtray features the insignias of the famous U.S. Seventh Army in the middle and all of its great Divisions around the outside, including the Keystone, 2nd Armored, and the Big Red 1. The Seventh fought valiantly in WWII and was once headed by George Patton. It has been stationed in Germany since. Probably dates to the 1950s."
