Very nice black lacquered hinged box. Not competent sure what this may have been used. I don't think cigarettes as there is no elastic or bar to keep them secure. The box is rounded on all corners and the top and bottom have a curve to them as well. Maybe for glasses? Beautiful box whatever ita function may have been. Hinge and closure both work appropriately. There are no breaks or cracks anywhere on the piece. The are light scratches throughout as expected with age.
