Unusual little enameled compact made in the USA by Elgin Amerca.
Love the colorful plaid pattern! White enamel on the back. No fading, cracking, fogging or crazing in the mirror at all. Powder pad is marked Elgin America and does show age with a crack/tear almost all the way thru on the top. There is some discolration and pitting on the inside of the compact but nothing that takes away from her usefulness or beauty. Nice slim design would be perfect to carry as a mirror in your handbag. Enamel shows normal age wear with light scratching. There are no chips in the plaid enamel. There is a tiny chip in the white enamel on the back on the edge near closure.
Closure and hinge are in perfect working order.
